Tax coding and 2 incomes

I am a PAYE with two incomes - a pension (main income) and a second employee job.
Can I ask the tax office to deduct any additional tax liabilities (which I have) from my second job (using a higher tax coding) rather than my pension? My second job tax code is currently Basic Rate (BR) which appears to be normal from what I have read.
This would benefit me because of the terms of pay on the second job.

Any advice would be appreciated.

Do you mean swap around the codes so that BR is on your pension and your tax code is on your job or have you something else in mind?

No - Effectively what I am saying is leave my tax free allowance intact on my main income (pension) and deduct more tax from my second income based on tax liabilities, which for example includes income from savings.
    Hope that makes sense?

I can't see what you are trying to achieve unless your pension income is less than your personal allowance?

BR and DO are two tax codes used for 2nd incomes, BR paying 20% and DO paying 40%. They can't be altered in any way.

it would be a lot easier to answer if you said approximately how much your pension is , how much your second job pays and the size and nature of your additional tax liabilities.

Hi Thanks - you have answered my question -if BR and DO are the only rates that can be applied to my second income. I realise that I could swop round which income I declare as my main but it wouldn't help in this case.
    Thanks for your advice.

Actually, I've seen HMRC putting part of the personal allowance against one source, as it was lower than the personal allowance itself and putting the balance against the other source. But like someone else said if you gave us the figures for both we'd be able to help out a bit better.

Yes I have seen that too - basically splitting the personal allowance between two or more incomes which is why I asked if the pension was below the personal allowance as this would be the only way it would have any effect.

Figures of course would help give a more meaningful reply.

Yes, as many people say to know the figures would help, but from what you are saying here I don't understand what exactly are you trying to do????

Your pension seems to be right and paying BR on your other job you are paying ENOUGH tax for the liability (unless you are earning there loads of money) and your savings should also have tax deducted at source, so again should cover enough for the liability...

But to 100% cofirm this we would need the figures.
