I was thinking the money you actualy got not the charges, MOT fund etc but re reading this was to top up existing budgeted spends so all good stuff getting ahead.
One thing to remember a budget is not a do once and forget it is always changing so plan regular reviews.0 -
yea definatly. I swear by our budget every month on the 1st. And have seperate money bags for each expense labelled in my drawer. I sort of just "forget" about them until needed, then count it up and smile . Im glad Im not the only one with strict budgets, I was beginning to call myself tight

Ive just paid another £16 off my loan. Im going to put most my efforts into paying the loan off first. But I did originally want to maxamize my equity by 2013 so I dont know how thats going to work out for me if I stop overpaying

Hi Steph!
I am hoping to do something similar to you. I have a 0% credit card and a loan for
6.9%. My mortgage is 6.19% so not a whole lot of difference between that and the
loan. First off, I am going to ring the mortgage company and see if I can shorten the
term by a few years. Then I will try to overpay both the mortgage and loan.
Good luck with your journey!Total (Aug 19):€58,567 Now:€26,947
DFD:Nov 22/June 22
Mortgage: €199,712

hi clearmydebts, thanks for the luck :-) I think in my personal circumstance both at the same time will work for me, glad someone else has the same idea :-)
My aim is to move home by 2013 with a large equity in my current home, so I can get a better mortgage rate in the long run. No point clearing all my debt and then having no equity for deposit to move hey lol
Ive made another recent OP on my mortgage this time, £35. and hopefully another small payment next week. Once my intrest free debt is cleared I can make some nice overpayments :-)
Ive been trying my very very best not to order from the catalogue lately. My credit limit is £6000, and they send me a bloody big bunch of flowers on my birthday as they want to keep me sweet for someee reason hehe. Anywho, Ive been doing really well, and letting other reliable family members order from it. I managed to build up £100 cbk pretty quickly and have just bought my baby girls christmas outfit with £60 of it, even better still, it was buy 2 get one free, so I got a real bargain :-) Also bought one of her christmas presents. Makes me wonder why I didnt start saving the cbk long ago! im trying to save as much as possible now and buy a new laptop from most of the cbk
Well off I go to catch up on surveys and stuff  bye bye x0 -
It took me a while to find this diary its been quite a few days! Im still making regular overpayments to loan and mortgage. Doing quite well on my budget. Infact, so well, Ive managed to buy a brand new laptop and digital camera today. I deserved it I have been working super hard :-) I did buy Microsoft Office 2007 with the laptop, it set me back £80, but the chap in the shop said I can take it back with reciept if I change my mind? Im dowloading Open Office at the moment, I hope it works well for me. I will be straight back foir a refund on Microsoft Office if I like it :-)
I still have my ebay recycling going strong, and my survey balances are building up strong now! Three Cheers for Martin Lewis :-) xx0 -
