Some of used to play solitaire with a pack of playing cards, but many people these days, who have never seen playing cards, play the same game on their computer.

i guess extended warranties arent modern enough for this thread.
wet wipes maybe? have you ever ran toilet paper under the tap and used that? amazing!
My friends think Im nuts and cheap for this... Not bought wet wipes for 2and half years (have 6 &3 yr olds) simply ran out one day and resorted to this and never bothered again.... and for exeptionally messy it was washable nappies wet down and washed after (or a changing mat towel)
Has gone to play on her own little world for a bit..... but its ok the voices in her head came too so she's not alone0 -
Yakult. A little sip of sherbety milk!:rotfl:0

Packs of ready chopped veg for stir-fries etc ie, a marketing man's flash of genius as to how to get rid of all the trimmings and misshapen bits left over in the veg processing factory AND charge a premium for them. This goes double for stringy old bits of cabbage stalks, btw.
That's a good one!!
Just had another one - 'Baby' vegetables.. how to remarket the crappy little ones that you used to throw away for even MORE money than the normal ones!! - My father used to call the little potatoes (not new ones) 'pig potatoes' because you would feed them to the pigs.. now you can buy them for £2 per small bag!!! - a proper, proper mod con.0 -
Tiny little tubs of yoghurt for children because the regular tub is for adults.
I know I would have been oggling the regular tub if I had been fortunate enough to have been given yoghurt.
packaged cheese and biscuits because we are too lazy to put 4 biscuits and a dairy lea in juniors lunch box.
leisure centres instead of the local swimming pool. It costs money just to walk in the door and then you must pay again for the activity.
Advertising on the outside of clothes so we are a free walking bill board all the time we wear certain garments.0 -

We've got 14 different sets of Monopoly. Tell a lie, they are my sons ~ he used to love getting a different set for bday's and Christmas
Do they get played with?

You should try again; granted the early ones needed 2 weeks' written notice that you needed illumination  but modern ones are a revelation :Tzippychick wrote: »That doesn't mean I have to like or accept them:p:p:p :rotfl:
As this thread isn't Old Style any longer, I'll move it to the Vent Board
Hi, Martin’s asked me to post this in these circumstances: I’ve asked Board Guides to move threads if they’ll receive a better response elsewhere (please see this rule) so this post/thread has been moved to another board, where it should get more replies. If you have any questions about this policy please email abuse@moneysavingexpert.com.:rudolf: Sheep, pigs, hens and bees on our Teesdale smallholding :rudolf:0 -

It's actually very good, and for the younger DS it's just the right length to keep him interested, and as the notes are in smaller denominations, it is good for his mental arithmetice skills.:o Will that get me chucked off this thread?
We've got Junior Monopoly, and Junior Scrabble, they are good introductions to the game for younger children. By the time all three of mine are old enough to play the proper versions (they are 3, 5 and 7) we will have had more than our moneys worth out of them as I think I bought both of them for £4.99 each from Woolies!wet wipes maybe? have you ever ran toilet paper under the tap and used that? amazing!
We use flannels for sticky fingers and faces, much cheaper!0 -
Bottled water
I will never understand why people buy litres of the stuff when it comes out of the tap at home
Well i do prefer bottled water - even down to the brand (Evian) as i do not like buying carbondate drinks and bottled water does taste far nice than tap water. (you can tell the difference). So bottled water is far healthier than coke!:beer:In My 'Permanant' Pre-Masters Gap Year
