  • Actually, I agree completely, cynical marketing people know that if it's get the right logo etc. "pester power" will sell it. And don't get me started on pink TV's, CD players tc.............

I second the shampoo thing. Wash and repeat, that's a con to make you use twice as much! Although I have to confess we do have My 1st Monopoly. It's actually very good, and for the younger DS it's just the right length to keep him interested, and as the notes are in smaller denominations, it is good for his mental arithmetice skills.:o Will that get me chucked off this thread? ;)
Presumably that is an easier version for younger kids which seems reasonable to me, pink Monopoly is just unecessary sexism.

    Energy saving light bulbs.
They save energy as there is no f***in light from them
I agree. My OH reckons they use more energy because you have to turn them on well before you need the light. Also they need to be taken to the recycling centre for proper disposal, which in most cases requires a car journey:rolleyes:

The concept of more TV channels for your money.

With the odd exception, most of them giving you the opportunity to choose between inane rubbish and programmes you didn't want to watch the first time round!

Definitely a case for 'less is more' is ever there was one!

Chilled fresh pasta - why pay for water (and refrigeration)? Same for 'ready to eat' dried apricots.

Monopoly variations are disgusting! That pink one is eugh! You can also get 3d monopoly, simpsons monopoly, electronic here and now monopoly, my first monopoly, and I'm sure many more over the years. Why do they feel the need to pee all over the games heritage by constantly s*xing it up? Oh yes, that's right, to sell more as it's deemed cooled because it now needs batteries.

Monopoly has always had variations ever since it was invented. Most games have evolved over the years to suit the particular generation at the time.

Some of used to play solitaire with a pack of playing cards, but many people these days, who have never seen playing cards, play the same game on their computer.

I got conned into buying that 'Simpson's Monopoly' a couple of years ago. Fortunately it was 'within the planned budget' for the child - otherwise it would have been no-way!

Packs of ready chopped veg for stir-fries etc ie, a marketing man's flash of genius as to how to get rid of all the trimmings and misshapen bits left over in the veg processing factory AND charge a premium for them. This goes double for stringy old bits of cabbage stalks, btw.

PS. The kids have Simpson's Monopoly, Junior Monopoly and a travel sized one. All get played with regularly, so I'm not complaining. And DD was ecstatic at the pink DVD player her uncle bought her for her birthday last year...all £15.99 worth of it, lol!
