I'm with the others in that fresh is best. After a long weekend in Italy last year we couldn't drink instant coffee for a couple of weeks (we just couldn't taste it!)
Gold blend is our instant of choice. If you fancy trying the Kenco Really rich that bulchy suggested it's on offer at the moment at Morrisons.

    Good luck with it ;)

For instant, we use Gold Blend; for filter we use Illy (lovely and smooth).
The ability of skinny old ladies to carry huge loads is phenomenal. An ant can carry one hundred times its own weight, but there is no known limit to the lifting power of the average tiny eighty-year-old Spanish peasant grandmother.
  • Ikea filter coffee is cheap and tastes good too. After trying what seemed like zillions of brands of instant the best one in terms of taste, strength and price I found is Sainsbury's Full Roast, £1.24 for 500 gr. I have a stove top percolator, an electric percolator, a filter drip machine, a cafetiere - and prefer instant. Unless I'm abroad when I drink espresso until my teeth chatter !

I like good strong coffee, preferably filter.

We always have instant coffee in the house too but I got sick of buying a more expensive brand and it tasting awful. I decided to try the Asda Gold Blend which is £1.03 per jar. Its really nice coffee, the Tesco one mentioned several posts up is similar. Kenco instant coffee is horrible IMO.

    Mortgage-free Glee!
Must admit that we have a capuccino machine (from freecycle), electric filter machine, cafetiere, and buy the blue packet ground fairtrade coffee from Mr T's, and it does for all of these.
When in a hurry - use Tesco fairtrade instant granules - try to always use fair trade - my cash is then helping someone who may otherwise be exploited.

When I go to the States, I see Folgers coffee bags which are foil wrapped too.

I immediately go to the coffee and toothpaste aisle when I shop there. I find most of their coffee is quite weak tasting but still has a caffiene kick.

I don't understand why if we have tea bags, we don't have coffee bags too.

I will look out for the Lyons brand.

For instant, we usually go for the Kenco smooth or decaf is tasty too if I want less caffiene

I am no expert in property but have lived in many types of homes, in many locations and can only talk from experience.
