Help I've been sacked

Although you don't have full employment rights, as you hadn't been in the job a year, I wonder if you were being paid minimum wage? If you WERE, then (I am guessing here) the low pay unit might be interested in your case, as your employer would be effectively paying you below the minimum wage by requiring you to work longer hours.
Otherwise, do you have a contract of employment? If your contracted hours start at 9am, and your employer has said in writing that you have been sacked for lateness for arriving after 8:50, it would be worth approaching a no win no fee solicitor to see what they think..... There is a form of unfair dismissal for employees with less than a year's employment, but I can't remember what it is called, and don't know what conditions have to be met. But I am fairly sure that breaking your contract (which is what it seems to me your employer has done) is illegal, even with a day's employment history!Ex board guide. It seems a rarity these days for someone to be disciplined for being late. What happened to the days when people HAD to be at work ON TIME??
I'm always in 10 minutes before my shift to make sure I've had time to take my coat off, make a coffee and make sure my computer is booted up and logged in ready to go.
Being asked to be in 10 minutes before doors open for a shop or bank job is perfectly reasonable.
I've personally got !!!!ed off with many colleagues in the past, who walk in the door at 9.00am and then !!!!!! off to the kitchen for 10 minutes. And then come back to their desk with some breakfast, so it's 20 past by the time they actually start work.0
