Hi

I'm hoping someone can give me a little advice.

I'm currently trying to get an unsecured loan for 12,000. This is for home improvements. But everytime i mention i am a home owner they try to give me a secured loan.

I really don't want a secured loan but i don't know where i should try.

Any suggestions would be much appreciated.

Thanks

    Hi shellybelly,

The only reason they offer you a home owner loan is becuase the rate is lower than the unsecured loan. If you still want to go for the unsecured loan then tell them and they should let you apply for one. I can give you a name and number of a helpful person in Halifax who sorted mine over the phone. PM for details.

    ;)
  • thanks Dipak.

Not sure if this is a problem but my credit rating is 'good' nut my partners is 'poor'. But i only want the loan in my name....

If you can afford the replayment then no one should object. At the end of the day its you decision so they should respect that. If you credit rating is good then i cant see no reason why you shouldnt get it. If you partners not as good then might be better to leave them off.

Though you will be financially linked and so irrespective of if it is a joint or single application both peoples credit will be taken into consideration.
