Bailiff wont accept a payment plan

Wonder if anyone can help.
My partner has recieved a letter as follows re child mantenance he owed. He now pays regulary this is an old outstanding amount. I called the bailiff to make a payment plan of £100 per month but he refused this and wants at least £1,000 followed by at least £300 a month. He is not in a position to pay this and continue to pay child support. Is there anything we can do or where does he stand legally he want s to clear this debt.
We are in possession of a Magistrates Court order as a consequence of non payment of the above amount (£3,576,79 including charges). We are instructed to demand immediate payment in FULL from you. We must inform you that unless TOTAL sum due is paid into our office within 7 days of the date of this letter, our bailiffs will attend to levy distress and thereafter remove your goods to the PUBLIC AUCTION for sales in accordance with the relevant statutory provisions. This action will involve further costs.
Thanks in advance for any advice

I think you would probably need to go back to court to get the order changed to allow you to pay in installments. Can you phone the court and see if there is an option to do this - not sure what the technical term would be - to get judgement varied? - hopefully you will get someone helpful who can explain what forms you would need if this is indeed possible.
Maybe phone National Debtline for help and advice? or look on their website to see if they have a relevant factsheet on the matter?
