Poshing up me dinner - any uses for Saffron?

Morning all,
really need some advice, I have been given a nice big bag of genuine Iranian Saffron and although I appreciate it, I don't really know what to do with it. I have googled a b it but not come up with any inspirational recipes. I think I can turn rice yellow with it and that's about the end of my knowledge
.
So, although perhaps not very old-style (or is it?), do you people have any cunning ideas? Anything gratefully received!

Garlic and Saffron mash
1kg (2.2 pounds) potatoes
100mls full cream milk
100g butter
2 large cloves of Garlic
Salt and pepper
Freshly grated nutmeg
12 strands of Saffron
Bring a large pan of salted water to the boil. Peel the potatoes and chop them to twice the size of a testicle.
Gently fry the finely crushed garlic for a few mins (neither the garlic nor the butter should melt at all...

Does it really say to cut the potatoes to the size of testicles? Lol what a measure! Thanks for that sounds really nice. Saffron comes from the crocus flower so can't propagate from the strand sadly - otherwise I'd open a businessThree years, six months, three weeks, 13 hours, 48 minutes and 30 seconds. 26011 cigarettes not smoked, saving $11,704.80. Saw this earlier yesterday and was sure I was going off my head! I am so wondering like Mr Proctalgia what species. Is it to be judged from a younger or older version of whatever species? Or can we women with PMS now happily chop up our tatties imagining something else here?;)
Recipe sounds really good though and will give it a try, however doubt if I can cut up a potato again without thinking about this one!0 -
