XMAS hampers for volunteers at Child Contact Centre

Hi there - I am trying to get together 15 hampers to give to a fantastic group of volunteers at a Child Contact Centre.

These wonderful people devote their Saturdays to allow absent parents and children to get together and play, chat, cuddle for a few hours on a Saturday.

Without their time and devotion, a lot of absent parents would not have any contact without their children throughout the year.

This year is extra special as these volunteers are giving their Boxing Day and New Years day (as it's Saturday).

They do not ask for anything but are giving up "their family time" to allow other's to spend just a little time together over the christmas period.

I went to my Local Co-op yesterday and they very kindly gave me 15 of their bags for life - so even though I call it a hamper.

So really - it's not a begging letter just a request for ideas.

I am very grateful.

Hello, could any of the children make models (something like a print out from a kids craft site) or make cards to be included, i think that could be very meaningful :)

    That's a really sweet idea!

I have had permission from a lot of the parents and have produced a christmas card just for the volunteers. They spend a lot of time with the kids so they really get to know them.

I am not sure if ALL contact centres are open on those dates!

I suggest you contact local stores. Do some research and and find ones that tend to support your kind of charity. I see you're nottingham based - so am I and I previously contacted boots vic centre and they gave me 3 carrier bags full of samples and old stock for a charity event I was organising. Wilkinsons are also Notts based so try them. Capital One have a policy of supporting young peoples charities. failing that ask local individually owned stores. Try independent coffee shops or bars for vouchers, theatres and cinemas for tickets.

the most important thing to remember is that if you don't ask you don't get and the worst anyone might say is "no"

Good luck and please let us know how you get on.

Great ideas there - I have put together a letter and have printed loads off so I going around the shops tomorrow with my begging bowl!

I just think it is such an important charitable thing that these people are doing!

Could you include a box of chocolates in each one somehow? I know that could be quite expensive but I know Tesco's home brand chocolate boxes are very nice and are only about 99p around Christmas time. You might get a deal from them for buying in bulk.
