I am always forgeting to take my library books back in time and when I do remember I find the local library is shut. Now I have discovered that I can renew online so no more trecking to the library or ringing up and getting the answermachine because they are closed. Just look at http://local.direct.gov.uk/mycouncil/ and follow the links to the library section. Get a PIN number when you are next at the library and put the URL in your favourites. Voila!

I have tried this too and its really good. You can check which books you have on loan and then do a hunt for them at home.0

I'm in Scotland and my local library has this facility. I have to go to the local council website; select libraries and do it from there. As OP said I need a pin from the library first and keep forgetting to get one!0 -
Yes I use this service too, excellent0
