Huuuuuuge blister - ouch!

My "interview" shoes have given me a huge blister. And when I say huge, I mean Huuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuge. Make a circle with your thumb and finger - that's how big. I've never known anything like it. It's on the sole of my foot on the heel so I can't put any weight on my foot so I'm hobbling along which is causing more aches and pains as my body is out of whack.

Q1 - Pop or not? The blister needs the fluid to heal, but it's excruciating...

Q2 - left intact, how long should it take to heal? Any tips to help it along?

Q3 - should I contact Clarks regarding their rubbish shoes?

Opinions (and reassurance!) welcome...

FYI - The shoes are very "safe", conservative & practically flat - nothing that would indicate blister problems (whcih makes it even more annoying).

I bought some plasters....... kiddies ones which you put on and they stay on till all is healed and lovely - can't remember the name of them, but you could get zebra and tiger print ones.. Did the trick for my heals, a number of times from badly cutting shoes.

    Possibly.

have you got the style name to hand?

They may just not fit you properly- hence the blister.

But there may be a fault with the lining/insock?

Try the blister plasters that you can get from most chemists - they are very good.

Do contact Clarks & if you have no luck with your local store then please contact the Customer Service Dept. Clarks have a very good refund/exchange policy :)

Try not to pop it, soak your feet in salty warm water, to ensure it is clean, and it should ease pain, then keep feet raised ie go to bed, you won't be able to walk about anyway! :) Try and hold off on the popping, as long as poss.

I have had large blisters go down very quickly, within a day or two. If not popped then it should greatly diminish by the morning, and with a gel plaster you should be able to walk fine. If you pop it, it becomes an open wound so will take longer to heal, as a new layer of skin needs to form over it.

I would second the blister plaster advice as they have gel cushioning in them, so really protect and minimise the pain.

I would probably complain to clarks, as they do market their shoes as comfortable, and well fitted so it isn't a great advert for them, they may be helpful, they may not. My Clarks air step with the crossed straps are my comfiest shoes I own! I'm officially old, comfort before style now! :(

I think popping it would be the best option as it's so large and painful. Disinfect a needle to pop it and clean it well. I'd then apply a blister plaster- Compeed is my favourite. I've had some awful blisters in the past (ones where I've been bawling from the pain!) and I couldn't feel it with the Compeed plaster on.

Did you wear the shoes without socks on? I have two pairs of Clarks shoes including an Airwair pair and thought they'd be comfy without socks- I got blisters with both of them. I can only assume some people have tough skin on their feet and I don't! Anyway, they're still my comfiest shoes with some tights or socks underneath, but if you explain to Clarks they probably will offer a refund as they do give good customer service as Quackers said.

Aw don't worry fernliebee- my Clarks are my favourites too and I'm only 21!! But I'd rather have happy feet than stylish crippled ones ;)

I'd agree with the blister plasters - they're great if a little pricey imo.

I love Clarks shoes too. I bought some fab sandals in their sale, and they were just the most comfiest pair I've ever owned!! I love their sales, always lots of bargains to be had.

Don't pop it - if you haven't already done so!

Compeed blister plasters are the best ones - they cushion and protect your foot whilst helping it to heal and stay on until your foot is healed. They look a bit like jellyfish when they come off though!
