Got no pension..Help

Hi all,

I'm 45 and got no pension, but I am debt free and I intend to save £500/month,
I would like to save and invest for at least 15 years. (i hope).

Any ideas would be great.

Thanks

About 50,000 options match that criteria. Can you narrow it down for us a bit please.

Ok buy gold and silver, it's the only way to protect your savings when we get hyper inflation.
As an investor, you know that any kind of investment opportunity has its risks, and investing in Stocks or Precious Metals is highly speculative. All of the content I post is for informational purposes only.

And what happens if we don't get hyperinflation?

You have to do your research, you must listen to Max Keiser, Peter Schiff, you must protect your savings with physical Gold and Silver, it is the only way.

You must study history, we are in the 1930's right now

That's not doing my own research. That's just following your research.

    What a load of XXXX!

I don't claim to be an expert but the one thing I DO know is that diversity is all-important. Gold/silver may have their place, but banging on about them endlessly and implying (sorry explicitly stating) they are all you need is just irresponsible.

the only guaranteed way to protect savings from inflation is in a vehicle which is guaranteed to move with inflation - gold doesn't, silver doesn't. Index linked gilts and NS&I savings do.

In the early 1980s, gold peaked at $850 per ounce. That is around $2300 in today's terms, taking inflation into account. Those buying 25 years ago would have lost around 60% on their so-called inflation-proof investment.

Goldbugs will point out that that $850/$2300 price was a short blib. Quite right, but after it immediately fell back to $500 then (equivalent to $1350 an ounce today), it then traded in the $600-$700 range (around $1500 - 1700 today) for several years.

    Inflation-proof my a**e.

As someone suggested, gold and other commodities have their place in a balanced portfolio (it certainly has a place in mine), but to bang on repeatedly and unthinkingly this same old mantra is cliched and muddle-headed.
