Endowment compensation?

I took out an endowment policy with my mortgage in 1998.
I sent a letter to the company that sold me the policy in January 2004 regarding the mis-selling of the policy and the shortfall that was expected at the end of the term.
I received a reply back within about a week to say I wasn't mis-sold the policy and I wouldn't be entitled to any form of compensation.
Then only 2 months ago (2 years later) I received a letter from the same company stating there was a flaw in the way my compliant was handled and if I wished I should contact the financial ombudsman.
I have done this and they are looking at my compliant, since then I have received within the last week a letter from a solicitors to say the finanicial company that sold me the policy have a wounding up order against them.
Would anyone know if I stand any chance of getting some form of compensation and why the company concerned sent me a letter 2 years after my compliant was closed?
