Sainsbury's do a basic curry sauce at 19p which is as good as chip shop curry sauce, great over chips!0 -
It's a spice paste rather than a curry sauce - you only need to fry off a couple of teaspoonfuls so the jar lasts for ages.Value-for-money-for-me-puhleeze!

I've never bought a curry paste; I usually just make my own spice mix. I could be tempted though, but how long do they last when opened?0

6 wks if you follow the instructions; more than 3 months if you're me.
The jar does save time when you don't want to go to the trouble of roasting and crushing whole spices first.Value-for-money-for-me-puhleeze!

can you tell me more about that farm shop, ive found its website but the pictures make it look quite a fancy pricey place!
Macknade is a fantastic place, its not cheapest option but the produce is just gorgeous. I find specialist indian and chinese stores are fantastic - cheaper than the supermarkets and more individual choice. There's one in Strood that my friend swears on - the stuff in there is fantastic
Following conversation about cheap sauces etc I've never ever been able just to put the sauce in my pasta or with my curry, I've always added my own spices and ingredients so I knew I'd be someone who preferred my own sauces than anyone elses!!You can bury a lot of troubles digging in the dirt

I make a mean chilli, just a carton of tomato stuff (value ) kidney beans mince (frozen is good).
I dry fry mice and onion, drain add loads of powdered garlic/herbs etc. beans and tomato juice stuff, a bit of extra water and cook slowly for ages - yummy.
I have to admit, I didn't get past this post for the giggling. I've never had mouse chili before. :rotfl:MSE mum of DS(7), and DS(4) (and 2 adult DCs as well!)DFW Long haul supporters No 210:snow_grin Christmas 2013 is coming soon!!! :xmastree:0 -
ive merged this with an older thread discussing the same thing. I can't abide shop bought because I like to know what I'm eating and be in control of it .
