MBNA - Groundhog Day

Im feeling pretty depressed today - the phone calls have started to come! i've had 5 today and 3 were with MBNA - explaning the same thing to 3 different people - yet all of them said they were making a note on the computer - at least the last time it was actually an ENGLISH (no disrespect to non-english persons) person - that understood what i was actually talking about!!!!

the worst ones were the women!! (sorry ladies) not very nice to talk to and rather harsh me thought!

oh deep joy the last one said he would stop the calls until after the weekend - like i am suppose to be greatful??

how many calls would you consider harrassment?

I'd consider that harrassment! MBNA are notorious for it aren't they?
I've never defaulted on my loan with them but their customer service is poor at best, and I totally agree with the english speaking comment - why have people in a call centre who cannot understand what you are saying, and you cannot understand what they are saying?!!
I don't thimk MBNA will get any more custom from anyone on this forum, that's for sure!

  • change your number ex directory or just hang up you can only explain so many times id talk to them once a week only that is reasonable

3 calls in a day is harassment! They probably want to stress you out the most so that you will pay them first, if you do have some cash to spare. My friend lost her job and suddenly found herself in arrears - the first time in her life. MBNA did nothing to help. Just kept up the phone calls.

Anyway, after reading your post, I decided it was time to call time on my 2 MBNA cards. Just cancelled them over the phone!!

I cannot believe I am saying this after reading all the posts on MBNA but out of my 9 creditors they have been the most helpful. I am not defending them in any way but I thought from hearing about them that they would be the worst to deal with. I am with Payplan and was paying them £91 per month on a loan (currently at £2.7K) and now paying £42 per month. When I missed payments and was changing over to Payplan they sent a few letters but only had 1 call from them. They called me last week to say they have shown now that 'arrears' have been cleared for the purpose of credit files etc. and that they will review the account in 6 months to see if I can afford more.

Why cant they be helpful and nice like that to everyone! I have the number and names of the people I spoke with. Maybe should find them and post them. They might help you more?

I have had similar problems with MBNA - they drive me mad:mad: They called me at work umpteen times and left messages for me on an emergency work answering machine for out of hour calls. That was the last straw - I wrote a very stroppy letter to them telling them they were bang out of order and it eased off a bit after that.

The calls have now started again offering me £200 off my £4k debt with them if I give them a double payment. I told them I wouldn't be able to afford that this month and they kept on and on telling me what a great offer it was:confused: I told them it wasn't that great an offer when you take the amount of my debt and what little funds I have available into question and if he didn't mind, I'd rather I ate for the next few weeks than get the discount
