Sure I've paid this off??
This morning I received a letter from Thesis servicing - in respect of 4 student loans I took out between 1992 and 1995 - only a small balance remaining, but I'm sure that I have paid off all my student loan some time ago. I deferred payment for a few years and then paid it all off - I've never heard from SLC re being in arrears (though we've moved house a few times so who knows?). THe letter says date of first movement was in 1997 - what does that mean? Would that be when I started to pay it off?
Can I just ignore the letter? Wary about getting in touch with them at all

Hi and welcome.;)
I understand that a student loan would not have been payable while studying but years later, when employed, where it would come out of your wages, if earned a certain income.
So maybe this was when you first started paying for this.
I don't know much about this, hopefully others on here will.
If you just received this letter out of the blue, maybe its best to check on this, and tell them your aware this was settled.
If they sent this letter out for some reason, it may just be one of those things, but they must obviously still hold details on microfiche, they can send you a written breakdown of this if you request for this.
Good luck and hopefully someone with more knowledge of these matters will post up with some useful advice and info for you here.;)The one and only "Dizzy Di"

thanks - yes I deferred payment for a while, but paid loan off via direct debit rather than through my wages I think? The direct debit would have been cancelled by SLC rather than myself?
The letter I received was to an address I've been away from for nearly 2 years (redirected). I thought this debt was settled over 5 years ago - so why are they just getting in touch now?
Thanks for the welcome - used to be on these forums quite a bit, but couldn't remember my log in details!0 -
you need to ask them for a full statement of the account... borrowing, interest and repayments0
