Wide Fitting shoes or trainers for my son

My son is 10 years old and has been measured at a size 3 width fitting H. I have come to the conclusion that this size is not made by Clarks, F seems to be the widest. Does anyone know of a wide fitting shoe maker for children. Or where I can get a wide fitting trainer. I've been to the local shoe shop several times and they do not have any wider than the F fitting.
Any suggestions would be welcome. Thanks

I am sure Clarks sell H sized shoes for adults and children. I have a wide foot and I buy H sized shoes from Clarks regularly and also my 4 yr old son also has wide foot and bought H sized shoes for him as well in the past. M&S have widefoot shoes on their website for adults but don't know whether they have similar ones for children.

My boy is a F width and Clarks told me that this was a narrow shoe!
I'd get in touch with Clarks head office and startrite too and see if they have any H width stockists near you, assuming you want your lads shoes to be fitted rather than off the peg as it were!Who made hogs and dogs and frogs?

Start-rite shoes always have 1 width fitting more than Clarks. I used to have the same problem with my daughter when she was younger, and it was actually the Clarks staff who said they couldn't fit her shoes for her, but Start-rite could....and indeed they did!! Now she is in Clarks H fitting (her feet have narrowed slightly (!)). E and F are narrow fittings. H is the highest Clarks go to.0

My shoe size is a 3H! Clarks do sell some trainers up to an H width fitting but only a couple of styles. I often buy kids shoes because they are wider. As an adult I find that apart from trainers I normally need to buy a size 4 and put heel grips in. Sometimes I've even had to buy a size 5!0

I always bought Start-Rite shoes for my sons as they all had H fitting. Wouldn't bother with Clarks as they aren't broad enough. HTH0

Thanks for all your replys, there is a Startrite shoe seller near me, so will give them a try!

If Clarks don't have any 3H's in stock, I suggest you try the 3 n half G and H instead. The size that your son has measured is only a guide and starting point for staff and you will probably find that you may find a pair that fits through trial and error. Its not unusual to have to go up or come down a half size or up or down a width. Do get a member of trained staff to check them for size once they're on though as thats what they are paid for and you'll find they really are quite helpful. Clarks can order in kids shoes, ask to see their catalogue which gives details of every shoe (sizes it comes in, width, colour etc). Also, check out the clarks website. You'll find though that your sons feet will probably narrow as he gets older and remember to get his feet measured every 10 to 12 weeks as their feet grow so quickly at that age.
Good Luck

You worked there?
I'd suggest the 3.5G too. There are very few trainers - if any that are made in a h fitting now. I'd even suggest trying a 3G as some of the styles are really deep this season.
Unfortunately, Clarks can not order shoes at the moment for customers. They are updating their warehouse/systems so there is no facility to order. I dont think they will order again - once the new system is up and running the stock that you sell one day will be filled back up the following day if there is any available.
You should ask your local store whether they are a store that stocks many g/h fitting styles. Different stores stock different styles as well as different size ranges depending on what they sell the most of. Some stores stock more narrow fittings, some wider etc so you need to locate a store that has the wider fittings in stock.
The point that the poster above mentions about the measure only being a guide is really important and something that many people do not understand. Just because you measure one size it does not always mean that you will need that size in every shoe you buy.Sometimes it's important to work for that pot of gold...But other times it's essential to take time off and to make sure that your most important decision in the day simply consists of choosing which color to slide down on the rainbow...0 -
Hi Guys,
Once again thanks for your tips and advice, had a result today, nipped into the Clarks Shoe Shop at Milton Keynes city centre and asked if they had any size 3 H trainers, the assistant found one pair, which I bought there and then for £15. A bargain to boot!
They fit my son just fine! Must be a lucky day!
Thanks again

I have a similar problem with my 6 year old who's a size 1H (the chap who measured him last time said he's a 1 k but they don't do them that big). I get his feet measured regularly and then when I'm near a clarks shop I pop in and check if they have any H's. You can usually get them in the bigger stores and I have got them off the web before and if there is a problem my local shop will try and sort it out even though they didn't come from them. It just seems to be a case of persevering, and hoping their feet don't get any wider.0
