I spend roughly £75 a week for 5 of us, but my daughter tends to eat out a lot evenings and weekends. I do provide the food for her packed lunch for work though.

Me and girlfriend spend about £30 a week on groceries, toiletries and cleaning. At the moment the freezer is packed though, so should be spending less :$

Trips to M&S and convenience foods certainly bumped our bills up

Since reducing both those, our bills have gone down. This site has given me tips and ideas how to reduce the bill too. I think it is around £80 per week but it used to be approx £100+ per week.

We still have some work to do in reducing the bills more but we have a fussy teenager and my OH isn't that easy to feed either:(

It is an uphill battle, I am sure if I lived alone, the amount I would spend would go to more than half. Feeding other people makes us extravagent, usually in the form of buying 'treats', more so when we have people round. Also, some days I simply don't want to cook!

We used to spend £20 a week on food in 1982, which did consist largely of convenience foods. I did work full time but did have to watch the pennies.

Food bills scare me, how it mounts up

We spend between £35 to £45 a week for 2 adults and this includes things like loo rolls and washing powder etc. We have our friends over for dinner most weekends (I love to cook, lol) along with their 2 children and DH's DD.

i shamefully say we used to spend a good 150 a week on me dh and 2 kids but we were wasting an awful lot and only buying branded names if we bought a chicken it would always be a large one, we would eat the white meat the rest would have been binned now a chicken does us 3 meals and we have cut our bill at least by half.
i was also terrably guilty of spending alot on cleaning materials i used to spend a small fortune a week on shake and vac for the carpet ive not used it for ages now and to tell the truth my house/carpets smell no different
