Applying for jobs

Maybe its where i live but i dnt seem to be getting any feedback when ive applied for a job via email, there was a job in the local paper which i sent my cv off in reply to and ive not heard swizz about, theres a postal address in the ad so is it worth me sending my cv by post. Theres no closing date either in the email either, how long do i leave it before i email again asking if the position has been filled ? i emailed my cv last friday so is it still too early to post my cv off. Im just annoyed that ive not had a reply yet, what kind of email they use anyway ? snail mail by any chance

To be honest, not many employers do reply at all, makes no difference if its by email, post, phone even. I was told that employers alot of them anyway actually prefer to get Cvs by email becase they check that everyday, where as post can go whereabouts and not be seen again.
Just keep applying for jobs and dont set your heart one one. If you send your cv again i would if it was me just think your a bit desperate and it would probably annoy an employer.0 -
I personally think it is extreemly rude of employers not to even acknowledge your effort in applying for a position that they have advertised. I appreciate that they may get a considerable number of applicxations, but a "thank you, but unfortunately" letter is surely not too much to ask forinstead of leaving people out in the cold none the wiser.[SIZE=-1]To equate judgement and wisdom with occupation is at best . . . insulting.

Yeah i feel the same, i apply for at least 5 jobs a week, very very rarely do i get a no or yes reply off any of them. It's just a guessing game, in my last 6months of unemployment i have had 5 rejection letters, 2 rejections over the phone and about 4 to 6 emails rejecting me. Out of hundreds of applications.0

I've had this issue recently, sent loads of applications via email and snailmail. I guess there's so many people looking for a job at the moment they can choose not to reply to people. I did have one email saying that I wasn't successful. It feels a bit pointless when you do it all the time and nowt!! I guess i'd best keep up with it as my contract ends in four weeks

I recently contacted an employer about a job that I had applied for via email and she admitted that she had over 250 applicants for the 3 jobs that she was advertising.
In fairness to her at least she had acknowledged my application.
Slightly off topic, I went to an interview on tuesday and was promised a response by wednesday - its now thursday and still nothing, so I'm assuming that I haven't got it - but it would be nice to be told though.2014 Target;

You might still hear something. I got called to an interview once for a job I had almost written off.
I think the best thing to do is 'forget' about jobs you've applied for and move straight onto the next one. Just keep all the documents in a safe place or on your computer in case you do get a call.
I think it must be quite difficult for employers to compare a huge number of cvs and that's why many companies use application forms to give everyone a fair chance.
Not hearing back from interviews on the other hand is just insulting, I was meant to hear from one last week and now they won't reply to my email and have not provided a phone number :mad:0 -
Instead of sending in 2 applications to the same job (which I've been advised is extremely annoying to the employer) you could google the postal address (or similar) and get a phone number or email address from their website?
I assume you've already done your detective work and have worked out who the employer is, especially if they've given you a postal address and it's advertised locally.
Shame on you if you haven't and have just sent out a generic application!
Best of luck.0 -
Sorry i just got in a bit of a rant as im just a bit annoyed ive not a response. I accept that i wont always get a reply to applications made but the job wasnt anything great and didnt require much in way of experience,0
