Nope, never read it in the Daily Mail today, but thanks to your link I have now read it online. When dealing with the CSA its important to note that it is commonly accepted as unfit for purpose, and by default this also means the staff are unfit for purpose.0

hmmmm. How wonderful this woman is. I think the Daily Mail should do a realistic 2 page story on the CSA. Let the wider public know the truth about the CSA. From all sides and let people make their own minds up.When dealing with the CSA its important to note that it is commonly accepted as unfit for purpose, and by default this also means the staff are unfit for purpose.0

Reading that made me feel ill. It is very one sided and her views seem to be that all divorces are initiated by the husband leaving the wife devistated and living in poverty. But not to worry, the CSA will save the day and bring these deadbeat dads to justice.
Interesting, she left out that part where the ex uses the CSA as a tool for revenge. Some of the user comments seem more thruthful than the article.Meetng women who have struggled to cope with a heartbreaking divorce - only to find that the men they once loved are refusing to support the children left behind - is a daily reminder of how critical my job isThe CSA system is totally unfair, towards decent hardworking absent fathers!! The ones that pay up, get an even rougher deal and have to pay extortionate payments to their children that they are not often even allowed to see!
It takes 2 to make a baby, so why do the mothers that sit on their behinds winge and moan when not only are they already getting handouts, they are also financially crippling their ex to the point that they are often left in poverty-how can this system be fair??
Not sure what mrs collins is smiling about- I would be ashamed to even show my face or say that i worked for the CSA, its all corrupt !!The CSA has failed so catastrophically not because of deadbeat dads who won't take responsibility - that is largely a spiteful myth - but because every premise on which the system is based is fundamentally flawed. Most men who don't pay can't afford to: they simply don't earn enough to fund someone else's household. Nor is their liability proportionately reduced when they have contact with their children, leading to 'McDads' who can barely afford contact at all.0 -
I think you have to look at what her job is, and that of the people she mananges - you will probably find she is mainly there to sort out the "won't pays" as opposed to dealing with every type of person.0

People who may read that article will come away with a picture that all pwc struggle to cope with heartbreaking divorce and that all nrp will run from their responsibilities.
That is not an accurate recording of not only why csa collect maintenance for the pwc.
There are nrp who prefer to use the csa because the pwc wants more than nrp can afford.
The csa serves two purposes:
1 To collect maintenance from NRPs who refuse to pay
2 Security for the NRPs who have paid by private agreement only to find that the pwc has foned csa claiming that the NRP has never paid child/support and has had to pay it all again.
Miss collins forgot to mention that side of it!!!0 -

QUOTE: By Julie Collins
What struck me most was her dignity. She merely said how disappointed she was that a man she had once loved could see his own children living in such appalling conditions - the house was in terrible disrepair.

COLIN SMITH, Harrogate. Letter Daily Mail July 7, 1997
"What most people today perceive as an epidemic of irresponsible fathers may in reality be the abuse of power by the state. At the very least there is a conspicuous neglect by both policy makers and the media of the basic fact that most of the 'absent fathers' who are excoriated so mercilessly are absent for one reason: because they will be arrested if they are present. "

Meeting women who have struggled to cope with heartbreaking divorce-only to find that the men they once loved are refusing to support the children left behind
Stephen Baskerville
A serious problem for the government is how to get demotivated men to pay for children they have been excluded from, and often are never allowed to see. It is reported that 50% of fathers involved with divorce lose all contact with their children after three years. The Child Support Agency was setup to obtain money from excluded and absent fathers. Fathers report that CSA pressure comes just at a time when they are getting over the loss of a wife and coming to terms with their situation of spending a lifetime in slavery without their children. For many this is too much to bear. Since the agencies start in 1991 there have been 45 suicides of fathers and children directly attributed to the CSA pressure.
Yeah!! Sure its a fair country we live in

Chriszz - do you have a breakdown of how many of those 50% of absent fathers are through their own choosing or because they are denied access?
Thanks

My point was that men too struggle with a hearbreaking divorce and he also has to suffer of having contact stopped.
If you want a breakdown of the fathers who are denied access or choose not to, I think you may find what your looking for with sites like family need fathers or mums for justice, maybe you can find on them how many men are denied and how many women say men choose not to bother.0
