I smell something bad. Check it isn't stolen. Recently, a lot of cars stolen in the UK have ended up in Cyprus, so check this isn't just one coming back. Cyprus is big business for car criminals these days.

Seriously, whats the odds of someone stealing a brand new car from here, shipping it out to cyprus then someone bringing it back here and reselling it, without it ever showing up on the log book that its been out of the country for some time.

Its very common for cars to be imported from Cyprus - i've been looking at two seperate new STI Subarus with different dealers and both came from cyprus.

Also, places like motorpoint get their cars as imports - from places such as cyprus, etc.

    Which Focus model is exciting?

I have an ST, and believe me, its FAR more exciting than any toyota imposter.

I didn't know Toyota had an equivalent car to the Lexus is, and I would have thought a BMW 3 series would be a better comparison to a Lexus than a Focus.

Not to me but it's all about choice. I want a something with 5 doors so I believe that would rule out an ST, exciting or not. Great cars though I'm sure they are I think for the money I'd choose something else.

Latest idea is a VW Golf. My other half is hopefully due to pass her (fourth!) test soon without doubting her skills I want something as safe as possible.....

you can buy a focus ST with 5 doors.
your thread is all about a focus. but now the focus isnt what you want you now want a lexus? or maybe a golf? i would research the golf and VWs recent reliability if i were you.
i doubt the golf would be any safer than a focus or lexus.
for peice of mind i would be looking for something with some kind of manufacturers warranty still on it. so a focus thats a year old for £8 - £9k with 2 years warranty left would be better than a lexus just out of warranty for £8 - £9k in my opinion.
i know the lexus' are meant to be uber reliable but is anything these days? they may be reliable but there is still the chance of something breaking and it will be expensive.

I was waiting for that! Looked on Ebay and saw a few with 5 doors. There aren't many Focuses out there for £8-9k with much warranty left to be honest. Lexus isn't likely to happen. Think I'm doing pretty well to narrow it down so quickly. So many people rush into buying cars and regret spur of the moment decisions.
