hi im hoping for some clarification
my dh has a son for a previous relationship, he has requested a break down of assesments as he was unsure of how all the arrears built up, he had to do this through mp as nothing was getting done anyway the paper work came back & it looks to me like all arrears were built up between 04 & 06 he was assesed as £0 in 02 then no asssement was made until 24/02/06 when they done an assesment for £96.80 effective date being 20/09/04 is this legal that they dont look for 4 years then use a date 17 months earlier as effective date then slap arrears of over 7k on him
thanks for reading

If the CSA can prove that they tried to make contact with your DH around 20/09/04 then their arrears will stand.
If it is found that they made no attempt at contact until 2006, then I'd say you have a good case to get the arrears wiped out.
However, don't expect this to be easy. The CSA will try any tactic, however underhand, to keep these arrears on the account & will show no leniency in trying to get them paid asap.Donedoingdebt Lightbulb moment January 2000. You have clearly been working with your MP regarding this issue. Did he not offer any advice? When dealing with the CSA its important to note that it is commonly accepted as unfit for purpose, and by default this also means the staff are unfit for purpose.0 -
