  • I have knitted presents on my knitting machine. There was the poncho year, then the jumper year, then the Adipose year. I may make some hats and or scarves this year.
I too have earmarked chutney and jam for several relatives who have shown an interest.

Again, I would like to point out that unless you hold the appropriate safety assessments for bath bombs etc. it is ILLEGAL to make them to give as gifts or sell.
  • Ohhh didn't know that about the bb's!! Ok maybe not be making any of them! I saw them on a kids tv programme on citv making them so am really shocked at that!!!

Maybe look at bath jellys.... are they ok?????

    Helllloooooooooooo!

We made our own presents last year and the ones that went down the best were the home made chocolates - we made the boxes too - and everyone loved them, but I think they appreciated the effort more than anything else (the chocolate was a bonus). Also once the person gets a little older it gets harder and harder to find a good present because they have everything already.

I bought some chocolate moulds from lakelands (my favourite shop .... ever!). They were £6 but saved me a lot of money - we are going to use them again this year.

I have also made flavoured vodkas, and chutneys, jams etc.

I am going to make a big hamper of home made goodies for my Dad this year - he will love it :)

HTH - am off to check out the other thread above .....

please can you tell me what chocs you made and chutneys

I'm planning on doing a small hamper as gift for parents etc. with damson gin, home made biscuits, lemon curd, a small fruit cake. Just wondered what to use as a hamper without spending a lot of money? I could just cover a cardboard box with nice paper, but wondered if anyone had seen anything cheap and pretty in the shops or has any other ideas.

Also any ideas where I am most likely to find damsons? I do my shopping online but the supermarkets don't have them and I don't know of a tree nearby. Will I get them at a market maybe?
  • I always buy mine from car boot sales....never paying more than a £2
