does my son have to pay council tax now he has moved back home?

I am 78 years old and on guaranteed Pension Credit and my Council Tax is covered by this for the year. My son has recently moved back home and I have just received a Council Tax bill solely for him, is this correct that my son pays even though this is my property?

You are the person liable for the council tax on the property therefore the bill should remain in your name, If he has been made liable for the council tax you need to contact them and advise them so that the account can be corrected.

You will lose any single person discount that you have been awarded and your council tax benefit may be affected.
I no longer work in Council Tax Recovery but instead work as a specialist Council Tax paralegal assisting landlords and Council Tax payers with council tax disputes and valuation tribunals. My views are my own reading of the law and you should always check with the local authority in question.
