Advice needed

Hi,
I need some advice.
I have a 20 year old daughter who is unemployed and has no income at all.
She had a county court claim for £475. As she has no income she could not make any offer of payment.
She has now had a letter from the Solicitor giving her 7 days to make an offer of payment. (the letter was dated 11 May, posted 2nd class and received 16th)
Can she make an offer of £1.00 per month and if she does should/will they accept it.
The debt was for a store card, Dorothy Perkins/GE Capital. GE Capital has sold the debt to CL Finance Limited.
The original debt was probably around £250.oo the rest is all interest and costs.
Can anyone help please.
Thanks

I'm no expert, but presumably she could write and explain that she's unemployed etc, and offer them the £1 to start with.

Is she planning on getting a job shortly?
This year I'm getting organised once and for all, and going to buy a house with my wonderful other half. And that' s final!

    Thanks for your reply.
I have done a letter for her saying she is unemployed and offering £1.00 per month but whether they will accept it or not I do not know.
She has been trying to get a job for the last 6 months with no luck.
  • Hi sheppie1uk.
Is your daughter in receipt of any benefits? If so she needs to explain this and make an offer however small. It will go in her favour if she does make some sort of offer if it is only £1.00 a month.

No she isn't on any benefits
  • Make a small offer anyway and explain the situation. They can't get blood out of a stone after all! It is quite a small debt after all (compared to mine anyway lol) so they may see that any offer is going to get them their money back eventually.
    Good luck

Oh and ignore me if you think I'm being too nosey but if your daughter is not claiming any unemployment benefit or income support what does she do for money? Surely she is entitled to some kind of help until she finds a job. Like I said ignore that if you want. Just wondered!! Lotsaluck.

are there issues here not being stated?
why is a 20 year old not being able to get any work in six months? are there no bars, pubs, shops, offices etc that need workers? where do you live? why are no benefits being claimed?
