Is it possible to dye suede boots?

I have a pair of cream suede biker-style boots with sheepskin lining. They look really dirty and marked (I have tried washing them in the machine).
Has anyone ever dyed a pair of suede boots before (and, if so, what kind of dye did you use and did it work?!!)
Many thanks

Hi Penny,
Many thanks for your reply - just wanted to salvage these boots as I love them and they look perfect (apart from the dirty marks due to them being so light in colour!) Will have a look at this.
Thanks again,
Donna

I have a pair of suede or nubuck type slip on shoes in quite a bright tan. I never wear them because of the colour but they could be very useful if I could dye them.
Is this possible, what should I use and how do I do it? Would there be any colours that would work better (ie black or dark brown, would they 'take' over the tan)?
thanks for any advice0 -
