Complete and utter loan novice

Can anyone give me advice please. My car is a proper old banger approx 14yrs old. Its due for its MOT in Feb and Ive got a feeling that its gonna start costing me a lot more than the cars actually worth. Ive got £2000 in savings in an ISA that I can have access to January 7th. I was thinking about looking at cars £4000-5000, so would have to get a loan for £3000ish. I dont really know where to begin really. Ive never had any type of loan before and have only recently just got my first credit card at the age of 38. Here is my dilemma, Should I get an interest free visa for the £3000 or get an actual loan:confused:. I would hopefully start thinking about getting a car between Jan and Feb before MOT is due.
Thanks for any help at all.:T

If you can get a credit card balance transfer for that amount it will be for a limited period, e.g. 9 or 12 or 18 months. What would you be able to do at the end of that period, especially if then you can't get another balance transfer?

If by then you would have saved enough to pay off the CC balance, why not save now and buy the car once you've saved enough?

How much can you save per month, or how much can you pay off a loan or CC a month? The monthly repayments on a £3000 CC balance will probably be around £150.
loose does not rhyme with choose but lose does and is the word you meant to write.
