Virgin change to T's & C's

Hi

Sorry if this has been posted before, I have searched, but could not find anything relating to my query :o

I have a 0% BT with Virgin which lasts until April 2010. However I have just received a letter which states:-

'At the moment your Virgin Credit Card rate for card purchases is only 0% pa until your April 2010 statement date. This rate will only be applied if you make a card purchase before your December 2009 statement date'

I have kept this card purely for BT purposes and have steadily been paying it off, and from an original £2.5k there is now only £1.2K outstanding.:T Damned if I will make a purchase just to keep the 0% rate until April. Think I can sense another balance transfer coming on.;)

I just wondered if they could do this and if anyone else had received a similar letter, 'cos my OH also has a BT with Virgin and he hasn't been told this yet. Thank you.
SMILE....they will wonder what you are up to...........;)

I would use it solely for a pint of milk or a small loaf of bread.
The interest on a 50p item will be neglible, but doesn't break the T&Cs :)

That being so, why not keep your Virgin credit card solely for the BT(s) until April 2010?
This 0% offer on purchases does not affect your existing BT transaction(s) in any way,
    does it?
People who don't know their rights, don't actually have those rights.

If I understand correctly you already have 0% BT rate till end of of April 2010 and according the letter you have 0% rate for purchases till April 2010 provided you make a purchase before dec 09. As both BT and purchases have 0% for the same time period what is the problem in using the card for making purchases? Considering of course that you clear you card (both BT and purchases) before the April due date you should be fine.

I could have sworn I was offered 0% on BTs till sept 2010 although if I log in it says april...

Im sure it was advertised as 18 months when I applied back in March or so.

I don't think you've interpreted their letter correctly - as I read it, they are offering you 0% ON PURCHASES until April 2010 provided you make a purchase in the next few months.

What they're NOT saying (but you seem to think they are) is that they require you to make a purchase in order to continue with your existing 0% balance transfer rate...

    Sorry!:o

Thanks to everyone who pointed out my mistake. (Phew just shows what a mistake 'posting in anger' is!)

Mind you, bet I'm not the only one who nearly got tripped up by what is, in my opinion, very misleading wording. scan it quickly and you would think that your 0% rate was going to end sooner than expected.

Moral of the story - read the t's and c's very carefully.
