    I believe he is liable from the time the CSA contact him - not from the time you contact them.

    Is he on benefits? Does he see his son for at least 52 nights a year?

    If yes to both then I believe he has a nil assessment.

    If yes to the first but no to the second then he might have the minimum £5 per week assessment.

    If he is not on benefits but has no income himself then I also believe he will get a nil assessment.
