I lashed out on one of these and all the trimmings and hardly use it. All I use it for is for reducing lumpy soup to smooth and yes, then it's really useful as you can do this in the pan. However rather an expensive option.
I have an electric hand mixer and a magimix as well and tend to use the electric mixer for cake mixes and egg whites and the magimix for chopping and grating.
What do you use your stick mixers for? Does it do anything better than the alternatives. I have to admit I've tried egg whites and mayonnaise with it and neither were successful.

Thanks for posting this as I am considering buying one so I am very interested in replies too.
I have a very cheap stick blender which I use for removing lumps/pureeing but I thought that the Bamix would replace the processor and liquidiser which take up space and are both begiining to groan at times....0 -

Although I only have myself to cook for in the main, I batch cook so the shredding, chopping attachments are just too small except for mixing dressings, chopping herbs etc and usually do this by hand anyway as it doesn't take two minutes and less washing up!
I must admit, I love my magimix, my first one lasted over 20 years before conking out so now on number two - probably shouldn't have wasted my money on the Bamix, but I am ready to be persuaded.

I hardly used my Bamix and so returned it to Lakeland for a full refund. I found that I get on better with my Braun multi-thing.0

I got a Bamix from Lakeland years ago which I found useless (already had a stick thing which I did soups and mayo with and a Magimix for big stuff, but had thought it might be quicker to use and easier to clean) I gave it to my daughter for baby food but she didn't use it either. Then earlier this year I filled in a questionnaire for Lakeland about products of theirs you loved or hated, and I said I'd found the Bamix useless and to my amazement they rang me and offered me a refund, even tho I bought it so long ago they couldn't easily recall the model no. or price. I sent it back to them and very promptly they sent a cheque. I was staggered and LOVE Lakeland for that - what amazing customer service (tho of course I do keep telling people about it so it's good publicity, but still hardly anyone else would have done that) . It felt like the best £90 I'd had for a long time, so I went back the the Lakeland shop intending to buy a Grand Remoska (I have and love a standard one) and lo and behold I found one half price because of a dented box. Now isn't that a nice little story ! But I certainly wouldn't recommend a Bamix because mine just wouldn't do all that chopping and stuff that they say they will (perhaps other people are cleverer with it than I was) and all I could do with it was whizz soup, for which there are much cheaper stick blenders. HTH !0

I don't have a bamix. Worked in a kitchen once, and it was only used for soup, so bought a Braun multi thing and get loads more use out of that. Soup, smoothies etc., but use the chopper thingie for herbs, making Hummus, Falafel, roughly chopping onions etc, easier to use than pulling out the Kenwood. The whisk attachment gets used for mashing spuds, whisking eggs, everything. I love my Bamix. I keep it on the worktop and it gets much more use than my old stick blender. I blend soup, make smoothies (and Angel Delight but that really isn`t proper cooking lol) and I don`t have lumpy gravy or sauces any more :rotfl: I know I could do more with it if I made the effort - I would love to try grinding up spices to make my own curry paste. I will confess I bought the Slice-sy at the same time and haven`t even tried that yet.....the hole to feed the food into is quite small it looks pretty useless tbh. I think if you are looking to replace your food processor you would need the slice-sy for slicing/grating/mincing but bear in mind the quanities would be smaller. You would save storage space but may have to do several batches if you were bulk cooking huge amounts but would probably be fine for day to day meals. Please bear in mind my critical comments about the Slice-sy could be very unfair as I haven`t actually used it yet. I will make the effort soon and post back to give a more fair opinion.
ETA - I have the Gordon Ramsey Bamix which has a straight power cable. If I had know this when I bought it then I would have opted for one of the models with a curly cable.
On the other hand, my Magimix sits virtually unused in the corner. It is a fab very well made machine but apart from bulk cooking baby food when my son was small I don`t get any use out of it apart from the occaisional batch of hummous. I should really try using it to make grated veg salads as I am trying to lose weight - I think what puts me off is the fact it is so heavy I find it uncomfortable to move around and a bit awkward to use on the worktop becasue I am very short. Given the price I really should stop moaning about it and find a better place to use :rolleyes:
Reading this post back I sound like blimming moany old cow, buying stuff then winging that I don`t use it. I promise I shall try to make future posts more positive :A0 -

Many thanks for all the answers, interesting I'm not the only one not using it. Morganlefay, thanks for the information re Lakeland which is where I got it. I wonder if they would take it back or give me credit (£90 Lakeland credit would be wonderful!) as you say the whole package cost £90+ as I've got all the bits as well.
I could go back to blitzing my soup in the Magimix, bit more washing up but there you go and I could get some things I really need.

I'd ask them, they were SO nice to me, and they do say that things have a lifetime guarantee. No harm in asking - tell them you've got a friend who suggested it as she was SOOO pleased with them. PM me if you want any more details ? Good luck !0

I use my processor a lot for hummous, guacamole, pastry, grating cheese and slicing spuds.
The Bamix is quite different imo. I use it for soups, choux pastry, mashing spuds, whipping cream and getting lumps out of sauce. You just stick it in the washing-up bowl to clean it, so it's no bother to use. I'd get another if it ever broke.0
