Hi all,
I have been given a steak pie from a butcher, but I am unsure of the best way to heat it. What do you all think?
Should I, remove the pastry lid, heat the meat and gravy in a pot, then put the whole thing in the oven to brown the pastry?
Or, should I heat the meat/gravy in the oven then add the pastry lid?
Or, should I heat the whole thing together in the oven?
Also, what temperature and for how long? Does it actually matter as the meat is already pre-cooked?
Thanks!

Just throw it in the oven in the tinfoil dish as it is. 180, 15-20 mins. Check its piping hot throughout.A little nonsense now and then is relished by the wisest men

Hi Fitzio,
What I do when reheating a pie is to pre-heat the oven to 180 degrees. Pop the pie onto a tray and put it into the oven and leave for about 20 minutes. Check that it's piping hot right through..if it's not, give it a few more minutes and if it is, eat and enjoy.

Put the whole thing in the oven, if the pastry is raw, brush the top with a bit of milk, I would give it about 30 mins, on a gas mark 4- 5, make sure its piping hot before serving x0

Assuming it's a family sized one.....Put the whole thing in the oven at 180c (Gas mark 5) for 40 minutes or for as long as it takes to reach at least 85c.
Don't reheat it in the microwave the pastry might go soggy.Debt-free day: 8th May 2015 "Remember that sometimes not getting what you want is a wonderful stroke of luck," Dalai Llama0 -
