Pea soup in the slow cooker?

I am hoping to make a yummy peas soup in my brand spanking new slow cooker, I am veggie so there will be no ham. My mum used to make a lovely pea soup with dried peas but I have no idea of the recipe. I have searched the whole board and am either blind or stupid, can anyone point me in the direction if a slow cooker pea soup recipe? Thanks xxx

I couldn't just leave this without answering. I am new to this section but have been on MSE for a while.
OK, so you are going to forego the ham, no worries. You will want as much flavour in there as possible, so vegetable stock and plenty of herbs (Dried herbes de Provence are a quick and easy option), plus lots of white pepper to taste. I would also use potato cut into very fine cubes, because it will give a bit of body to the soup when it breaks up. You could also use pearl barley and/or butter beans or borlotti beans.
I would put the whole lot in a large stockpot on the hob, but I would be tempted to leave the dried peas in boiling water for a while to soften them. By putting all the ingredients into a stockpot, you can reduce the mixture to the required viscosity, get the balance of flavour right, and then transfer it to the pre heated slow cooker when you are happy with it.
Good luck,

Here's a recipe for pea and ham soup, just leave out the ham, you could maybe put a veggie stock cube in?
kethry posted a really good pea soup recipe
using frozen peas
sorry, forgot to say that I don't think it takes long to make (as you're not using ham hock/joint) so don't think I'd bother with the SC, just make in a pan... don't throw the string away. You always need string!
