PPI repayment on Loan reclaim

Can anyone advise on the following or had a similiar experience;

I contacted Barclays First Plus with regards to a loan I had initially taken out over 5 years ago with Zenith in relation to PPI. They have informed me I am not entitled to a PPI repayment as it was not sold by themselves & they have only taken over the company following bankruptcy.

They also state they have no records of the loan or PPI agreement taken out with Zenith! Therefore I raise the question of why I am repaying a loan that they have no records for? I also was under the impression the loan agreement was only for 5 years and should have been paid & nearly is, however, they state it was a ten year agreement.
Can anyone advise where my next step should be?
:rolleyes:
Kind Regards
