Do you go to a beautician or do it yourself?
Im wanting my "lady bits" done but never had it waxed before.
Is there any particular wax that isnt so hurtful? Or anything to help numb the pain?

best to go to a beautician to get it done0

yeah i would recommend at least for your first time going to a salon. Either way it hurts but i feel that the hot wax is better if you are getting your bikini area done as the hair is more coarse.0

I didn't find mine hurt at all, need to go back as getting ingrowing hairs, even on my legs its doing my head in!0

I prefer hot wax as opposed to wax strips.
My beautician uses hot wax (think that's the name for it), she basically applies some hot wax using the spatula, waits a few seconds for it to cool and harden and then pulls it off. There is no need for strips and it really doesn't hurt very much! By that I mean I only feel pain for about 1 second (if that) and then I am fine.0 -
I definetly wouldn't try to do it yourself - too much to go wrong! It'll definetly hurt, you may well end up with a nasty ugly rash (unless you're one of those lucky annoying people who has skin that reacts with nothing!) , and as it's difficult to see what you're doing, you probably won't get a neat finish doing it yourself. Professional waxing is pricy, but buying the wax to do it yourself is a complete waste of time and money
And choose your waxer carefully, depending what you want done. A "tidy up" or thong style can be done by a standard beautician. If you want a Brazilian or a Hollywood (i.e. whole lot!) you'll need to go to a waxing specialist (most standard trained beauticians won't do a full wax because it's a specialist skill, it's intimate, and the risk of skin reaction is high). Ask around to find out their reputation, and make sure they'll do exactly what you want before you make the appointment.
Whether it hurts depends on your pain threshold I think. Some people find it unbearable, some say they barely feel a thing (I think it hurts, but only for a moment, so it's bearable). I do have officially the most sensitive skin in the world though, and I've never had much more of a reaction than a slight redness that went away after 24 hours. (When I tried to epilate the area was red raw for literally months!) Definetly worthwhile.0 -
Thanks for that! So hot wax it is then! I get my eyebrows done and dont feel it anymore, think Im that used to it! But Im scared about the pain down below lol! I really shouldnt be as Iv given birth to 2 9lb babies lol!!0

I once tried waxing my own bikini line (back before i had trained in waxing) and ended up chickening out of ripping it off and having to peel it off ever-so-slowly from my nethers...agony!
Go to a salon - they do it so quickly and so well that it literally stings for 5 seconds whilst the strip comes off, then it's fine. Best not to get waxed just before your period (more painful) and if you have a low pain threshold a paracetamol about 30 mins before waxing can help/have a placebo effect.0 -
Awsome thank u! Is there any sort of cream I can put on afterwards? incase its red? Sorry for the questions but Iv never had it done before x0

The therapist will likely put something on it for you after waxing.
Best not to use anything on it for at least 24 hours - no boiling hot baths or showers, swimming or sunbeds during this time either.
After a few days, exfoliate the area regularly (to discourage ingrown hairs) and moisturise. Hope this helps!0
