IS this any use as a slow cooker. It needs to be cooking a meat stew or curry for about 9 hours for DS. I believe it also cooks porridge. Could you put ingredients for porridge into machine night before with an external socket timer ?

I've got it and I love it! Slow cooks very well.
I don't think the external socket timer would work as you have to press the button to select which cooking mode you want when you use it. Porridge only takes ten mins in it and I generally put everything but the milk in the night before and then get it going while I make tea!0 -
Thanks so much. Really useful reply.0

I had one of these and I found it ok as a slow cooker, it can be left on for how ever long you like because you set a time and when that runs out it switches to keep warm mode, so you could cook something for 5 hours and come back after 9 and it would be cooked but warm for you. The disadvantage I found with this one was you have to have liquid in it otherwise it cuts out, therefore you can't use it to cook a chicken or joint unless its in some liquid. I also found that as it has a very solid seal on it there is no evaporation of the liquid so the sauce doesn't thicken/reduce much over the cooking time which I personally like. I bought this as a slow cooker and never really used the steamer/rice cooker facility which I think is its main function certainly the way the manual is written. I later bought a crock pot style slow cooker and gave the tefal to the charity shop.0
