Tesco Online Price Match!!!!!

I had a delivery last week that had the price match for substitutions and it is very confusing.
For a start they do not price match the offers that you may have chosen and this may not be apparent at the door as it looks like they have price matched and if you cannot remember the offer it does go in Tesco's favour.

My main gripe is that if you are given a substitue for the orignal product and the new product is on offer - Tesco pickers will not give you that offer.

I had my BOGOF Yeo Valley yoghurts substituted for Tesco brand yoghurts. These were on 3 for 2 at the moment but as I only requested 2 that is all they picked for me!! I called and asked where my other "free" pack where only to be told we would not pick up 3 as you only asked for 2!

I stated that as with all other subs if I do not want the item then I should be given the chance to say no at the door and as technically they have left a pack behind that they were infact making a profit from me! Plus I had paid for the delivery!

This was just one of the many errors that they made - including "price matching" my corn on the cob on offer at 4 for 1 pound or 69p each. They sent 2 and then another pack of plastic wrapped corn on the cob. For something that should have cost 1pound in total Tesco wanted to charge me 2.38!.

Price Match difference also did not go on and had to get this refunded manually as well!

Won't be going back to Tesco as "every little helps" seems only to be in Mr T's favour!

i used to get fed up with this and the ridiculous subs sometimes as well.

strawberry jam for strawberry make your own jelly was one.

I then set it to "no subs" but found that didn't work either as half the stuff was never in stock, so stopped having deliveries completely.
    My self & hubby; 2 sons (30 & 26). Hubby also a found daughter (37).
Eldest son has his own house with partner & her 2 children (11 & 10)
Youngest son & fiancé now have own house.
    So we’re empty nesters.
    Daughter married with 3 boys (12, 9 & 5).

They've just started a 'substitutions' policy to match Adsa's, whereby, if the substitution they provide is more expensive, they'll give it to you for the same price as the one you ordered.
You also have the option of refusing their substitutions if they're not suitable.

The shopping list provided upon delivery details the items substituted separately - you can ask the driver to return the substituted items and your bill will be adjusted.

I haven't used Tescos for quite some time but did have a lot of issues with home delivery when I did. The ones which really stood out for me were:

    • A carton of orange juice 9 days out of date - the carton was even bulging! I have no idea how that managed to even remain on the shelf in the store without being spotted.
    • Yogurts constantly being crushed because they were thrown into bags with heavier items...like bags of potatos, or 2ltr bottles of coke
    • Stupid substitutions at times... lasagne sheets instead of spaghetti (why not choose tagliatelli or something that could at least be used in the same kinds of recipes!), garlic instead of raw ginger (because they're alike aren't they ) and my all-time favourite was a packet of teacakes instead of wholemeal rolls.
The problem is that you don't spot the damage or the out of date items until the delivery guy is gone. They're in a rush to get to the next delivery and you can't really stand and check every item in a big shop, one by one, at the door.

I know that I can do this but when you have a subs list as long as your arm and they have looked like they have price matched it - you let them take away the obvious subs but then the driver goes as they are in a rush and you realise that they have given you 1 BOGOF item and then charged you full price for the 2nd one.

Nappies are my bug this time I ordered size 5 and they subbed for size 4!! I mean if you dont have the size at least go a size up rather than down!

My delivery today came to £53 approx. and with the money saved on bogof, I got it for £31.96. However, the delivery guy just dumped the crate in my hands and zoomed off, before I noticed that there had been substitutions. My 3 £5.99 bottles of wine in the 3 for £10 offer had been substituted for other £5.99 bottles not in the offer, thus costing me £8 extra and with no chance to give them back to the driver.

Couldn't get through to the store so I tried the national CS who told me that the Pilgrims Choice Mature Cheddar that I ordered was one of the wines I wanted so I shouldn't moan too much. After asking him to repeat that, and pointing out the mature cheddar is in fact a CHEESE, he offered to give me £8 back to make the substitutions 3 for £10. So I would be all square with them.

Except then I looked at the substitutions and they had swapped a bottle of red wine for a 5% abv. bottle of sparkling white grape mist. Back on the phone again, this time getting through to the local store, and he was incredibly helpful and aghast at what had happened, especially the driver leaving me the crate as "they're very expensive believe it or not!" So he asked what he could do, and ended up refunding me the grape mist, so that was another £6 saved. So by the time my cashback comes back (although I will have to manually claim as it didn't track), I will have paid £7.96 for 6 bottles of £5.99 wine, 4 x 400g boxes of allsorts/jelly babies, 2 400g blocks of mature cheddar, and 2 2l sparkling mango juices.

Not a bad days shopping in the end:jbut very frustrating.

Banana 1975, I don't suppose your store is Eastville? Just noticed that you are located in Bristol and that is where I have had all my troubles.

I've had no end of problems with home deliveries, damaged/ood goods, mispriced etc, and ive always emailed them via the link on the order confirmation that you get. They have rang me every time and credited the items.

Thing is, i'm just a bit concerned im geting myself a bad reputation now though :rotfl:
