Hi all,
I have just watched 'It's not easy being green' and in tonights episode Brigit was making hand cream, skin lotion etc.
I am trying to avoid Sodium Laureth Sulphate plus others, does anyone make their own potions, and are there any recipes you would be willing to share? Sorry if there is another thread on this already!
regards

We must not, in trying to think about how we can make a big difference, ignore the small daily differences we can make which, over time, add up to big differences that we often cannot foresee.

Hi doddsy,
Have a look in the Mega Indexed thread. Under Makeup & Bodycare, there are a number of threads that should help you.

Hi
Simplest one i can think of is a strawberry and honey facepack. Just mash up about 10 strawberries with a couple of dollops of runny honey and smear over your face. Leave for about 10 minutes and wash off. Strawberries are acidic and tone the skin (also leave a pretty pink tinge) and honey is a natural antiseptic. Not tried it, but let us know how you get on.

Nearly 30 years ago when I was a spotty teenager, my mum got sick of me spending a fortune on various creams, lotions and potions (and stripping my skin raw in the process!) and bought me a bar of Cidal soap. I used a fresh flannel every day and washed gently morning and night, and the spots cleared within a couple of weeks! Went back to the routine when my skin flared up during my pregnancies and it did the trick again. My teenage daughter did the same - resulting in lovely clear skin, and teenage son has now started using it - have noticed a slight improvement in a week.
I must point out, these were your average teenage zits on the face and back ...not full blown acne which obviously needs professional treatment. But it worked for us, far better than anything you can buy in the "troubled skin" section of Boots and is only about 65p a bar!0 -
I've used Cidal soap on my face every day for years and have never had spots.

I was listening to Woman's Hour this morning and one article was on making a facial cleanser from Marigold flowers and extra virgin Olive Oil. The link below is to the 'listen again' section of the Radio 4 website and further details of the author of a book on Herbs etc.

Thanks for all the replies, I will check out all the links. I would like to make for myself, dds and perhaps presents as well.We must not, in trying to think about how we can make a big difference, ignore the small daily differences we can make which, over time, add up to big differences that we often cannot foresee.
