My kids have had premium bonds, money boxes, all kinds of stuff. My favourite favourite gift though was a bottle of port, bought after consulting and checking it would be ok. It's to be drunk on my daughter's 18th. I have to admit I'm thinking about buying a bottle of something that will last each year for them both, so they have something special. That said, I'm not sure I can be strong enough not to drink them myself :rotfl:

    Hi all,

Thanks again for all the wonderful suggestions and inspirations. The Christening took place this weekend and it was a lovely day enjoyed by all. The Sun even came out!

After some deliberation I decided to go with headcovers's apple tree suggestion which I thought was a great idea. My friends were very pleased with it and thought it was a lovely gesture... they also liked the bottle of champagne which I asked them to hold on to for a special occasion... such as the baby's 21st or the next time I was round and not driving... so thanks also to climbgirl and fairylights for those suggestions. :)

Thanks to everyone else too! I think they were all great ideas and i'll be bookmarking this page and the recommended links for future reference!
