...Do you think if I emailed the interviewer they'd give me an idea of what the test might involve? Or would that be frowned upon?...

If you are worried about it, how about ringing him and asking if there is any specific prepartion that he would like you to do for the interview? If you can keep it pleasent and show willing then you may be able to get him to divulge some clues that may give you more of a hint as to what you will have to do.

Otherwise, the above advice sounds pretty good to me.

Don't ring!!!! I had candidates ringing me for all sorts of spurious reasons and I have to say that I just became more and more irritated. DOn't ring or maike contact unless it's an inpenetrable mystery to you - your name will stick for all the wrong reasons.

Thx everyone. I'm a bit miffed about the vagueness of the description 'keyboard skills test' and so I've decided to contact the the interviewer tomorrow to try to clarify what it involves. I don't mind tests so long as I know I have the ability to pass and I don't want to embarass myself or to waste anyone's time so I thought this would be the preferable option.

That said, I'm qualified for Microsoft Office but so long ago as to have forgotten a fair bit but if I knew the test would involve maybe Word or Excel then I could brush up on what I need to know. Not knowing is stressful because I could waste my time studying something I won't need when I could have been preparing answers for the interview. I'm currently employed so I don't have the time to prepare for every scenario.

I wasn't suggesting you had lied about your qualifications or experience, sorry it was interpreted that way. I was merely suggesting that some people do.
I was very grateful for your advice and no offence was taken.

Good luck, leave your nerves at home.;)
Thx. From previous experience I'm nervous for about the first 5 minutes and then when I feel more comfortable I can put that nervous energy to good use.
