Have I left chickpeas soaking for TOO long?

Hi all,
I put a 500g packet of chickpeas to soak on Wednesday night as I needed the equivalent of a 410g tin for a recipe on Thursday. Got up on Thurs morning & a lot of them were on the floor as I'd put them in a jug that was too small
.....oops....
Anyway - used what I needed for recipe & I still have loads left so I was going to make a soup in the slow cooker today - thing is - they've been in soak since Wed night - will they be OK?
The water was a little bit 'scummy' but I've rinsed them well & put them in clean water.

I'd do the "sniff" test. Do they smell like they have started to ferment or smell pongy? If so best to bin them.
Personally if they passed the test I'd use them but make sure they were thoroughly cooked.
I've done the same thing myself in the past and come out ok - but if in doubt, throw them out.0 -
I chucked them - I did what you suggested & they did smell - not a lot but didn't want to risk poisoning the family
Thanks for helping me x0
