Capital gains tax on house sale

We want to sell our home which is in 9 acres. The permitted amount of land with a house for capital gains tax relief, is just over 1 acre. There are also stables and a barn on the land. We have lived here for 22 years and it has only ever been our home, never a business. Will we still have to pay capital gains tax? Thanks

  • if it is your home hten it will qualify for principal residence relief and therefore is subject to 0% CGT.

If you sell the whole thing then you should be ok, if you start selling off parcels of land at a time, then you fall into the garden/land area limits.
