I am a first time poster here and am looking for help, is there a joint mortgage available for a couple where the woman is over 60 with a substantial pension. So far I have been told that any completion of mortgage given will be based on my age and not on my younger partners age who is under 50. I do not want equity release
thanks

yes there are mortgages that run beyond pensionable age assuming your income will not change below the required income multiples - how long after retirement age lenders will allow them to run I really dont know for sure, mine is set up to run until Im 69 since my income will not change at state retirement age - it wont in effect run that long though due to overpayments.
I do know a couple 60/62 who moved last year and remortgaged, I have to say though I have no idea for how much/how long, I suspect it wasnt very much and only over a few years.0 -
We have a mortgage that ends when the younger person is 65.
THis was with barclays
Not sure twhat the problem would be for a lender Pension income is more secure than earned and if index linked is even better.0 -
My parents had an interest free loan that lasted until they died and the property was sold - don't know whether it would be available now.0

Halifax are probably the best bet at the moment.
A lot of lenders that used to do it have now capped their mortgages at age 75I am a Mortgage adviserYou should note that this site doesn't check my status as a Mortgage Adviser, so you need to take my word for it.
