I sold a broken gold chain 4grams which was lying in a drawer past 20 yrs from ex husband and no sentimental value but decided to see if I could invest the £20.50 that I got.
I have bought 2 japanese coffee cans and saucers from charity shop and a huge willow pattern bowl empire made all for £16 and intend to sell them for more than I bought ... will keep you posted .
has anyone else done this?

I've never sold gold before and don't like the look of the adverts you see nowadays, popping up on every TV channel. I once bought and sold some items in this way using Ebay, but I don't do it anymore. Some stuff I bought from shops I never got round to selling and ended up giving to relatives
It's fun trying to make a profit and grow the money. You never know how much extra profit you could make, although I find Ebay especially a hard slog in selling some type of items.
If you try to continue that theme it might well be worth checking out the carboot sales as well. I've not been to one for a long time, but I'm sure you will find the genuine seller there. Someone who's clearing out their home and selling an item at a cheap enough price for you to re-sell at a higher price elsewhere. Also I would think most would expect a little haggling on price - I could be wrong on this.
Good luck in growing your money this way:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:D:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:jMe and the gang!!!0 -
Btw, just so you know, if you intend to turn this into a regular habit of buying low and selling for a profit you will qualify for tax so be aware as you can be hit by quite a hefty fine if you don't pay the tax.
But i have a friend that buys good branded clothes at carboot sales and then sells them on E-bay. Her two best ones are buying some brand new expensive shoes for £2 (poor fella, his wife wasn't at the car for 5 minutes and he didn't know how much she wanted for them. I can't remember the brand name but they were really expensive, and the guy didn't know what to charge for them) Then she sold them on ebay for 50 odd pounds.
Another good one i remember was buying a BRAND NEW LACOSTE SHIRT FOR 50P!!! She sold it for 18.50.MSE allowed me to see the light0 -
I looked at ebay and don't think this is the way to go. One thing is I didn't buy anything that I didn't like the bowl is gorgeous and if I am stuck with it fine, but won't sell it under £80 ha ha even if it stays as my fruit bowl for a fiver its better than anything I would buy 'new' from a shop. the coffee cans are delicate and marked appropriately but if they gather a bit of dust I haven't lost anything.
When I sold the chain it was fun it had been there for ages I went to a local small shop and looking at the prices I was happy coz it had been sitting there doing nothing0 -
o I didn't know that. I haven't made any profit yet I just sold something and spent the money on something else I liked0

I volunteered at a St. Vincent DePaul thrift store and was amazed how much was sold for pennies on the dollar to people who where either taking it to sell in their own store or selling it on EBAY. I imagine one could make a living on it if they are willing to put out the effort.

A lot of companies insist that their branded goods must not be resold with labels attached. Also a brand new lacoste shirt for 50p will be fake.0
