Social worker assistant job interview

Hi all
Next week I've got an interview for a social worker assistant position for the local authority. I was wondering if anyone has any ideas or experience as to what I could expect to be asked. It says that there will be a case study which will be given at the interview. The position focuses on adults with learning disabilities.
Any advice would be greatly received.
Thanks all

I'd look at the job description, and think about the kind of tasks you might have - for example our scenarios for support workers describe a situation where a client is in a particular situation, asking for help, and what would you do? (But our clients don't have learning disabilities!)
Expect a question on equal ops, and make sure you're aware of the full scope, ie not just disability but also race, sex, religion etc. Their equal ops policy will almost certainly be on their website if it hasn't been sent to you, so consider how they might / should be putting it into practice in your section.
Another useful doc from their website is likely to relate to policies for vulnerable adults, or safeguarding vulnerable adults - see if you can find it and give it a good read, think about what it means in practice!Signature removed for peace of mind0 -
I agree with Savvy_sue
I would may be think about:- working as part of a team
- dealing with a stressful situation
- resolving a difficult situation
- social inclusion
- equality & diversity
- disability discrimination
- abuse (vulnerable and safeguarding as mentioned before)
- communication with service users
- confidentiality & report writing
Good luck with the interview
:heartpuls CG :heartpulsEver wonder about those people who spend £2 apiece on those little bottles of Evian water? Try spelling Evian backward.0 -
Thanks very much crawley_girl and Savvy_sue.
I had my interview this afternoon and OMG...:eek::eek::eek::eek:.
As soon as I entered the room my mind went blank, I feel so embarassed, I have been preparing for this interview for a few weeks but think I came across like a person who had come across an invitation to an interview in the street and thought I'd just go along. I bumbled my way through my answers, I am so cross with myself, I knew what I wanted to say (in my head) but for some reason couldn't get my answers out clearly. I feel like a right prat, I'm gutted!!!
Anyhow I clearly clearly need to improve my interview skills, Does anyone have any advice or ideas of services which I could access in order to do this? It wasn't a case that I didn't know what was asked I just went to jelly in the situation, I am usually very clear and confident when communicating and work alongside professionals in a social care setting everyday in my current role.......
I can't believe how stupid I feel..:eek::eek::eek::eek:.
Anyhow, any advice would be greatfully recieved.
Thanks all.0 -

It may not be as bad as you think, I have come out of interviews thinking I did really badly and then got the job (and viceversa unfortunately...)
If you find interviews are really a big problem and you really want that job, you could try doing shifts there or in similar places, through an agency perhaps? In this way they will get to know you and the interview will be less crucial.
Good luck!0
