Barclaycard Direct Debit - 'Full Amount'

My first payment on my new Barclaycard is due. Now on my Online account it confirms my DD is set up but it seems to be for 'full amount' outstanding on the card, not the 'last statement balance' (as all my other cards do)

Is this correct? Are Barclays going to take the whole balance as of NOW or will they take my last statement balance?

I don't want to phone them as the Indian call centre does my head in.

Thanks for any light you can shed!!

It would be the last bank statement balance, if you have a rolling balance.

Actually having re-read your post, if it is the first payment due, and direct debit set up for full amount, then the direct debit would claim the whole amount. If it was a rolling balance, then it would taken the last balance statement. When is it due? Hope you have not left it too late!

If they do claim the whole amount, then you can always use the card as your money you could've kept until November!

I have a Barclaycard, and it's just a terminology difference. Like other cards, it will be the "full amount" of the last statement and will not include any new spending you have made between the statement and payment dates, which will go onto next month's statement.

I think perhaps now I understand the reason for the OP's confusion. Just checked my account and it does indeed show the amount to be taken as the current balance, rather than the last statement amount. Barclaycard have told me that this is a known issue with their website, it's being worked on, and that only the statement balance will actually be taken.
