Hi guys,

We're soon to be launching a new tool that we've been working on for the last few months and would love it if you could spare five minutes to give us some feedback.

The tool is designed to find the cheapest downloads for the top 40 albums and singles.

Username: test11
Password: beyonce

Please don't pass the link or the login details on.

Please click reply to let us know if you like it or if you find any problems. Please be as specific as possible and let us know what browser you're using. In particuar if you spot any missing tracks or artwork, if you could add links plus track listings from the retailer's site that would be immensely helpful.

Thanks again for taking the time.

MSE Archna

P.S. There are a few more things to come eg a New Releases category.

Very speedy and even corrected my spelling of Paolo Nutini before producing the results, impressive.

Also nice to see the boys from Oystar again :)

In fact I'm enjoying it too much listening to tunes from all of the sites linked, all seem to be very quick to access but being a good MSE'r I'm not buying any.
  • works fine in Firefox too.

When you have searched and you highlight your last item (to overtype with another) it shows as the same coloue - you cant actually tell you have highlighted it.

Fantastic idea and worked well on a few tests. Some artists weren't found but they're not 'Top 40' - I'd expect the range would improve with time. Oystar seem to be high in the search results!
I'm an old-schooler and prefer to buy CDs - I would imagine that it might be quite easy to tie in CD album prices along with these prices? Especially for Amazon and Play for example. Downloading an album for £8 when you can have it physically for £5 seems like bad value and might make people think twice?
  • Hey almillar,

    Glad you like the tool.

Inside each album, there is a link to find the cheapest cd version tool, and this links you to our megashopbot :)

So it does! Very cool, thanks MSE Dan. I tried a search for Muse, and their newest album, The Resistance, was at the bottom of the list. Do the results come back in order of price? Do people generally search for the latest albums? Yes, I know, it's down the right hand side in the top 40 list...
  • Hi alimillar,

The results returned are ordered by A-Z.

  • Hi guys,

Thanks for all your comments! It is much appreciated. The editorial is not quite there yet, this is a work in progress but we've taken heed of the colour complaints and made a few tweaks!

Any more comments on the functionality of the tool or anything else would be ace!

    Thanks again
  • Great thanks. How's the functionality of the actual tool for you?
    Much more readable imho...

Still think the layout of the boxes on the right hand side needs tinkering with... what about switching the MSE emails box around with the MSE's top ten one? & maybe bringing them into level with centre box and left hand side one, but maybe thats my OCD...

Borders to boxes would possibly look better all in the blue colour but that is just personal preference! Oh and the tunechecker bit may look better in a different colour??
  • Thank you. Yes we have an issue with title mapping at the moment. Different retailers vary the title of tracks slightly which means when we search for them they don't come up. We're working on some rules to correct this but it really helps to know which ones you've spotted.

Thanks again, your help is really appreciated.

P.S. Sweet Disposition = awesome track!
