We had a leaflet through our door the other week that said "We've just sold a house similar to yours and need more urgently". Which isn't accurate as we live in a flat.

They don't do themselves any favours.

Like LIR sates these are done to get houses on the market. Goes with what I hear that EA's are in need of stock at the moment.

Will be interesting to see if many start marketing properties this winter.

For my sins, I was an estate agent in 1991 (only for 4 months, until I got a proper job:D) and I was always going out with the owner delivering leaflets to the local estates to drum up business.

I did manage to sell one house in those 4 months and got the grand bonus of £50 for my efforts:rotfl:

Things are still carp for EAs, and in some cases deservedly so. The bunch of plummy-voiced twerps who returned my rental deposit a couple of weeks ago, didn't even have enough in their client account to honour the cheque.

To quote from their web site: 'Over the years we have established strong business links with clients such as the church of England and national building firms. We also act as sole agents for a number of reputable independent development companies and local businesses.'

Well, bloody good luck to the rest of those folk. They will be behind me in the creditors list if the next one boomerangs.:rotfl:

    Estate agents, ever the optimists.

    Numpties :rotfl:
  • Well we live on a road that has several houses for sale, one has been on sale for over two years. They've all been sold recently and the new people have all moved in over the past few months.
Even a couple of sea front properties with hefty price tags have been sold and one of these has been on the market nearly three years.
Maybe down south things may be different but where I live on the north east coast a lot of property seems to be exchanging hands.
Mind you house prices are not ridiculous up here like they are down south so that may explain it.
  • i live on a road where two 'sold signs' have gone up about 3 months ago from the same agent .. on property bee the same two properties have only appeared as 'under offer'.. one sign was I suspect ripped down by the occupier( i saw it in their garden) . the other house which is empty still has its sold sign up.

The thing is carol, they're not even sold. They are "sale agreed"

    It really is pathetic.

:money:True - Sale agreed does not means its actually "sold"

In my local paper yesterday waqs a full backpage spread advertising "apartments" for sale. They had some pics of the "apartments" and details of what was in them.

They also had quotes from banks and "experts" stating that house prices were on the rise etc. Scaremongering?

I saw a house the other day with curtains. Or possibly blinds. But definitely some sort or traditional device to control the amount of light entering the property.

I've also seen some houses with garages.

    Unbelievable.
