Hello all my fellow os er's :j
Well, Diwali is here again (indian celebration of light) and as usual, I am required to make enough to feed a samll army. Does anyone have any os recipes for indian sweets? I usually make more mainstream sweets (truffles, nutty choc balls, coconut and choc bake thing) but this year i'd like to try my hand at indian sweets.
Not too bad at cooking and always needing to impress the MIL so any ideas/recipes gratefully received :A

ooooooh!!! Can I have you truffles, nutty choc balls, 'coconut and choc bake thing' recipe please please please, sounds soo lush!:A
I've used some recipes from the carnation website and they are pretty good espeacially the Quick mango fool-very quick and easy to do as a dessert-especially of you have to feed a lot of people ( I used those big cans of mango pulp you get).
However, not tried some of the others because the cost of the ingredients are quite a bit and when you need to make double or sometimes triple the recipe-this can be quite expensive!

Jtz, no need for recipes really!
Nutty choc balls:
Melt value milk chocolate. When melted add, whatever crushed nuts you have in the house. You have to have enough nuts to make the mixture quite firm. Roll into balls and dip in pistachio powder, cocoa powder, dessicated coconut etc. In the fridge for half and hour and voila!
Coconut and choc bake thing is just a small can of carnation milk, mixed with lots and lots of dessicated coconut (again until lix is fairly firm) and a teaspoon of crushed cardomon. Mix on a medium heat for 10 mins then place mixture in a greaseproof paper lined tray. Cover in chocolate and pop into fridge for an hour. Cut into squares and serve!
Thanks to everyone who has replied so far! Burfi recipe is fab, going to try that!0 -
