info needed on loan being taken over
Hi there
Can anyone help with some info on when an outstanding loan is taken over by a different company.
We have an outstanding loan that is subject to a ccj. It is an old debt which we have been paying off on a monthly plan for 7 to 8 years. We are up to date with all payments and haven't missed any. We received a letter this week from a company who have obviously bought the debt and they are asking us to settle it which we can't afford.
Do we have to give them details of our financial situation. They didn't even know who the debt was with originally and we have had to push for proof that they had actually bought the debt and weren't a scam just trying their luck. I have been really unimpressed by their lack of professionalism this week and certainly would not wish to enter into any agreement or give them any information unless I had to. They have been quite threatening. We are continuing to pay the agreed amount to the solicitors of the original company and have had no correspondance from them to say the debt has been handed on or asking us to change our direct debit.
Does anyone have any experience of this and does anyone know how we stand legally with this. Any info would be great thanks.

Who is the company that has took the loan. First things first ask for a consumer credit agreement (CCA) as the debt cant be enforced without one.
Cheers
